amedeo Modigliani
Amedeo Modigliani (1884–1920) was an Italian painter and sculptor associated with the School of Paris. He is best known for his distinctive portraits and nudes featuring elongated faces, almond-shaped eyes, and graceful, simplified forms.
Modigliani drew inspiration from African sculpture, Renaissance portraiture, and modernist experimentation. His portraits often convey a sense of introspection and quiet melancholy, focusing on psychological presence rather than detailed realism.
Although he worked in sculpture early in his career, Modigliani eventually concentrated on painting due to health issues and financial constraints. His series of reclining nudes caused controversy for their frank sensuality when first exhibited in 1917.
