Pablo Picasso
Pablo Picasso (1881–1973) was a Spanish painter, sculptor, and printmaker widely regarded as one of the most influential artists of the 20th century. Over a career spanning more than seven decades, Picasso constantly reinvented his style and helped shape the direction of modern art.
Alongside Georges Braque, he co-founded Cubism, a revolutionary movement that fragmented objects into geometric forms and presented multiple perspectives within a single composition. This approach fundamentally changed how artists represented space and form.
Picasso’s work evolved through several phases, including the Blue Period, the Rose Period, Cubism, and later expressive and symbolic styles. His famous painting Guernica (1937) stands as one of the most powerful artistic responses to war and violence.
Beyond painting, Picasso worked extensively in sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, and stage design. His relentless experimentation and immense body of work made him a central figure in the development of modern art.
