Tom Wesselmann (1931–2004) was an American Pop artist known for bold depictions of the female nude and still life subjects. His most famous series, Great American Nude, combined flat colors, simplified forms, and references to advertising imagery.

Wesselmann often incorporated collage elements and industrial materials into his work, blending painting with sculptural techniques. His compositions frequently included fragmented body parts, cigarettes, lipstick, or domestic objects, emphasizing sensuality and consumer culture.

Unlike other Pop artists who focused on irony, Wesselmann’s work often celebrated beauty, desire, and visual pleasure. His style used sharp outlines and intense colors to create graphic, almost billboard-like imagery.

Over time, he developed large metal cut-out sculptures based on drawn lines, expanding his exploration of the relationship between drawing and sculpture. Wesselmann remains an important figure in American Pop Art.
